The Pier Cafe

The home of great coffees and food...and some of the most spectacular views in Scotland is located at the bottom of the garden of Stronochlachar Lodge. The Pier Café  is open from 10am seven days a week from March to October.


The Pier Cafe offers:

Steamship Sir Walter Scott

Your stay at Stronachlachar Lodge will not be complete without a sail on the steamship the “Sir Walter Scott” or the “Lady of the Lake”. This is the perfect way to experience the beauty of Loch Katrine.


As you travel, the tales and legends of the loch will be narrated by a member of the ship’s crew, and you will be struck by the beauty of the landscape, the very scenery which captured the imagination of Sir Walter Scott, inspiring him to write his poem “The Lady of the Lake”.


On-board amenities include comfortable saloons, toilet facilities, and a kiosk, selling gifts, souvenirs and refreshments, including hot and cold drinks.


Cycling Loch Katrine (from Stronachlachar or Trossachs Pier.

It’s easy to hire a cycle for an hour or longer - or take your bike on board ‘Sir Walter Scott’ or ‘Lady of the Lake’ for the morning sail up to Stronachlachar then cycle back on the road along the scenic shores of Loch Katrine. With bikes for adults and kids it’s the perfect family day out - or you can even hire a tandem or electric!


Rent your bike for 1 or 2 hours - for a half day (4hrs) or a full day (8hrs).

Walk Around Loch Katrine

There is a lovely walk along picturesque Loch Katrine that leaves from Stronachlachar Pier ....and can be combined with the steamer sailing from Trossachs Pier.


If you would like to walk further afield, the Trossachs are often referred to as the Highlands in miniature. The hills have become known and loved by thousands.

Fishing on Loch Katrine

Loch Katrine is regarded as one of Scotland's best pike and wild brown trout fisheries. The Loch is 11 miles long, up to one mile wide, and over 500 feet at its deepest point.


They are open year round, 7 days a week from 09:00 - 1700. Evening sessions are available during the summer months (20th May - 20th July) from 18:00 - 22:00.


The Brown Trout season is from 15th of March until 6th of October.  The Pike season is from 11th of May until 31st of March.

Loch Ard Sculpture Trail

The Loch Ard family Sculpture trail consists fo 16 miles of routes for cyclists, walkers and horse riders. It runs through a wide variety of terrain and past many impressive sights, including Loch Ard itself, Loch Chon, Duchray Water and Kelty Water.


The sculptures were commissioned by Scottish Enterprise and Forestry Commission Scotland with a brief to create representations of animals and birds as part of the natural food chain in the forest.

Lochside Yoga

Based in the village of Kinlochard, Lochside Yoga offers regular yoga classes and activities for anyone interested in developing their yoga practice, or who just likes to get a good stretch and feel relaxed at the end of a yoga class or session.


These activities range from weekly yoga classes, yoga workshops and short retreats, accompanied running or walking sessions followed by 1:1 or small group yoga, individual Thai Yoga Massage.

Go Country, Kinlochard

Go Country is one of the premier outdoor activities organisation in Scotland based in the idyllic Trossachs on the shores of Loch Ard. They offer a range of outdoor activities to suit all interests and ages.
